What PC requirements do I need to run GSPro?
What PC requirements do I need to run GSPro:
With all the combinations of specs and prebuilt PCs, it’s hard to tell what can run GSPro. Below I will be going over some common (And uncommon) specs for PCs found on the market today and how they may perform with GSPro.
PC Specs and Future Proofing/Expectations
Though the guide is currently accurate as of 11/1/2024, GSPro courses created in the future will be more demanding as new advanced hardware is released. We will work to update this guide as these conditions change. If you have any doubts about your personal PC or a potential PC you’re looking to purchase for GSPro, feel free to reach out to us with the PC specs/model. We are more than happy to let you know how GSPro will perform on it. (You can reach out to us at Support@GSProgolf.com)
Desktop specs:
Desktop PCs will be the most commonly chosen PC for two particular reasons. They contain some of the most powerful/efficient versions of the specs available for PCs, and allow for future configuration. If you’re on the fence of either purchasing a laptop or desktop, I would personally recommend purchasing a desktop for the two reasons above.
GPU:
GSPro is generally a more graphically intensive game. Being so, the GPU will be one of the two specs in the PC that GSPro will lean on the most. Below I will start each recommendation with our lowest recommended card for that experience. Each card after that will show an efficiency percentage increased compared to the last card. (Due note that a newer series card may not necessarily mean a better performance)
Minimum 1080p Experience:
Nvidia GTX 1070: As of now the GTX 1070 is our minimum recommended spec to run GSPro at 1080p. You may experience issues with trying to run newer courses with 1080p Ultra with this GPU.
Nvidia RTX 2070: 7% more efficient than the GTX 1070.
AMD RX 5700: 3% more efficient than the RTX 2070.
Nvidia GTX 1080/Ti: GTX 1080 is 8% more efficient than the AMD RX 5700. GTX 1080-Ti is 21% more efficient than the GTX 1080.
AMD RX 6600-XT: 15% more efficient than the GTX 1080-Ti.
Nvidia RTX 2070 Super: 7% more efficient than the RX 6600-XT.
AMD RX 6700-XT: 5% more efficient than the RTX 2070 Super.
Recommended Specs For A Great 1080p Experience:
Nvidia RTX 3060-Ti: This is our current minimum recommended GPU if you’d like to run GSPro at 1080p Ultra without issues on any course offered to GSPro.
AMD RX 6800: 12% more efficient than the RTX 3060-Ti
Nvidia RTX 3070: 4% more efficient than the AMD RX 6800
Nvidia RTX 3070-Ti: 6% more efficient than the RTX 3070
Recommended Specs To run GSPro at 4K Ultra
Nvidia RTX 3080: This GPU is the current minimum recommended GPU we’d recommend to run GSPro at the maximum 4K Ultra graphics quality.
AMD RX 6900-XT: 5% more efficient than the RTX 3080
Nvidia RTX 3090: 7% more efficient than the RX 6900-XT
AMD RX 7900-XT: 5% more efficient than the RTX 3090
Nvidia RTX 4070-Ti: 9% more efficient than the RX 7900-XT
AMD RX 7900-XTX: 7% more efficient than the RTX 4070-Ti
Nvidia RTX 4080: 13% more efficient than the AMD RX 7900-XTX
Nvidia RTX 4090: 28% more efficient than the RTX 4080
RAM:
RAM will be the second most important spec to look out for when running GSPro. Unlike GPUs, RAM is easier to recommend a specific number and its expected outcome for each quality type of GSPro.
1080p/1080p Ultra Experience:
16GB of RAM
4K Ultra Experience:
32GB of RAM
CPU:
The CPU of course is important, but will not be one of the heavier leaned on specs like RAM or the GPU. Depending on if your launch monitor requires other programs to be running in the background such as View, a better CPU might be recommended.
1080p Experience:
We recommend an Intel i5 CPU (Or comparable/better) to run GSPro at 1080p.
4K Experience:
To run GSPro at 4K, we recommend that the PC has an Intel i7 CPU (Or comparable/better) to run GSPro. If you’re looking to possibly future proof your PC for 4K in the future and can swing the price difference, the Intel i9 is a great option.
Storage:
We recommend that the PC has at least 10GB (40GB for 4K) of storage available. Each course is around 1GB, so depending on how many courses you plan on downloading, plan your storage accordingly.
Other Specs:
Other specs such as the motherboard, power, cooling, and the case will come down to the specs you choose from the above. CPU, GPU, RAM all have different power, motherboard, cooling, and even case size restraints/requirements. These options will come down to your preference and won’t directly affect performance in GSPro.
Laptop Specs:
Weather you have multiple Sim bays or simply like the portability of laptops, you might want to use a laptop for GSPro. Below we’ll go over the integrated specs in laptops and what to expect from them.
GPU:
Even more so with the integrated GPU in a laptop, this will be the most important piece of hardware to run GSPro. If you find that your GPU isn’t performing as stated below, please make sure your laptop is connected to an outlet power. (When laptops are unplugged from power, they may pass the workload off from the GPU to the CPU to save power. This will create a noticeably big difference in performance)
Minimum 1080p Experience:
AMD RX 6800M
Nvidia GTX 1080: 6% more efficient than the RX 6800M
AMD RX 6700: 15% more efficient than the GTX 1080
Nvidia RTX 2080S: 7% more efficient than the RX 6700
AMD RX 6750-XT: 11% more efficient than the RTX 2080S
Recommended Specs For A Great 1080p Experience:
Nvidia RTX 3080-Ti
AMD RX 7700-XT: 17% more efficient than the RTX 3080-Ti
AMD RX 7800-XT: 16% more efficient than the RX 7700-XT
Recommended Specs To Run GSPro At 4K:
AMD RX 7900-GRE
Nvidia RTX 4090: 6% more efficient than the AMD RX 7900-GRE
Nvidia RTX 3090-Ti: 12% more efficient than the RTX 4090
RAM:
RAM for laptops do have slightly different configurations and utilization, but will produce the same output when utilized for solely GSPro.
1080p Experience:
16GB of RAM
4K Ultra Experience:
32GB of RAM
CPU:
CPUs similarly to RAM may have slightly less optimized configuration when compared to their desktop counterparts, but will perform the same when utilizing GSPro.
Storage:
To run GSPro, we recommend that the PC has at least 10GB (40GB for 4K) of storage available. Each course is around 1GB, so depending on how many courses you plan on downloading, plan your storage accordingly.
Other Specs:
With laptops, you won’t need to worry about power, motherboard, cooling, or other compatibility issues. As long as you meet the requirements above, the laptop should be built to accommodate them.
