OCCT Benchmark
In this guide, we’ll go over how to download and run the OCCT benchmark test. Using this test, we can throw a large net at the PC to locate any small or large potential issues.
Locating/downloading the test
To start, head to the following link: https://www.ocbase.com From the website, click “Download” found in the top right corner of the screen:
Once done, you’ll be redirected to the download page. (No need to purchase the software) Instead, click on the arrow icon under “Download” once more. (You’ll be prompted to choose the file the .exe is stored):
With OCCT downloaded, launch the program. (If asked, allow the program to make changes to your PC) Upon launch, read/accept the End-User License Agreement.
Configuration
For the most effective test, we will want to throw the largest net out to catch any potential issues occurring. OCCT is pretty good about choosing the best settings automatically based on what hardware you have. We’ll go over at least one change that will help assist us.
In the software, locate and click Combined under “Stability Test”. You’ll be represented with the full array of tests we’ll want to select. (CPU + RAM, CPU, Linpack, Memory, 3D Standard, 3D adaptive, and VRAM):
With every option selected, we’ll only need to change one automated option. Scroll down until you find “3D Standard Configuration” and enable “Error Detection”.
Starting the test
With all of the steps taken above, you’ll be ready to start the test. After starting the test, be sure to run it for the entire 1 hour period unless the software stops itself or a serious issue arises. Some tests like Linpack are periodic and won’t give an accurate error report unless the whole test has been run. Please make sure no other applications are running in the background for an accurate and safe test. Run the test at your own risk as the software will create a heavy load/test for your PC components.
To start, click on the green “Start” found in the bottom left of the program. A popup may appear asking if you’d like to support OCCT via Patron. You can ignore this after 10 seconds, and click “Start” again:
Results
After the full hour is complete, (Or if the test ended itself) the results will be fully populated in the top left corner of the screen. Go ahead and screenshot your results to send to us. (Depending on how long the list of errors is, clicking on the “Copy” icon to send to us instead, may be easier)
